Here’s some quick reviews of some games that I’ve been playing:
Heroes of Ruin (Nintendo 3DS)
It’s an average dungeon crawler by Square Enix, of all people. The graphics are hard to look at after a while, and I have a very bad habit of getting very bored with this game very quickly. Though I would love to see what multiplayer is like with a group of friends.
WWE ’13 (Xbox 360)
Throw away any preconceived notions of how you feel about professional wrestling. Just stop. This is fundamentally a fighting game. A huge cast of characters? Weapons? Combos? Hell yes. And, honestly, pro wrestling is meant to be ridiculously entertaining and WWE ’13 is certainly that. The visuals work, though some of the characters look like they should be billed as being from the uncanny valley. For fans of simulations, it’s got all of that as well. Controls are arcade-like, being very easy to use, but it can take a while to fully understand how to reverse strikes and perform finishing moves. Remember: This is more like a fighting game than a sports game. Give this one a try, even if you’re not a huge fan. Slight curiosity is all that’s really needed.
